Who doesn’t enjoy a great night’s sleep? Slipping under clean and soft sheets, turning on your favorite nighttime TV show or reading a great novel is perfect.

But for many, an excellent night’s sleep doesn’t happen, and for several reasons, insomnia for one, but have you thought about bed bugs?

Bed bugs are indeed a nuisance and, if left untreated, can lead to a significant problem, as bed bug removal is crucial. Not only do they make that perfect night’s sleep uncomfortable, but the bites also are not fun and certainly irritating. In addition, they are highly invasive as they take up residency in your bed or elsewhere.

So, where do you start if you suspect you have bed bugs? First, identification is critical, followed by the proper treatment methods to remove them entirely and stop them from returning.

Because bed bug removal can be challenging, we have good news: Green Valley Wildlife Solutions can offer safe and effective treatments.

The Facts

What Are Bed Bugs?

Bed bugs are tiny, brown oval-shaped insects that feed off of the blood of animals or humans. When they feed, their bodies swell up and turn red. Most infestations occur when females lay their eggs, resulting in an abundance of them, all requiring blood to survive.

Bed bugs do not fly but do crawl. They are super fast, enabling them to reach their mate quickly, resulting in quick reproduction periods. Unfortunately, their newly reproduced eggs can be the size of a speck of dust, making it challenging to see them.

Have you recently noticed tiny bug bits? Nymphs which are immature bed bugs may have settled in your bed, furniture, rug or other spaces. They are looking for a place to feed; you have become their source.

Bed bugs do not transmit diseases, but their bites can result in mild to severe allergic reactions.

If you suspect you have bed bugs, bed bug removal is vital and it’s time to take immediate action.

  • Bed bug sacks, fecal matter, or skin shedding.

Heat Treatment FAQ's

Once the heat treatment is applied, the bed bugs will die instantly.

This is not an advisable method. Consumers need access to professional equipment and training methods.

At best, this will only keep the bugs away temporarily, and don’t be surprised if they come back with a vengeance. Green Valley Wildlife Solutions brings specialized heating equipment to eradicate the infestation.

The time to heat a room to kill bed bugs depends entirely on the situation. Some infestations may need more time or regular treatments.

Average heat treatments take about 8-10 hours. Depending on the location and severity of the infestation, it shouldn’t take longer than 10 hours.

There are other ways to deter bed bugs after heat treatment, for example, washing and drying your sheets at high temperatures.

Natural oils are known to prevent bed bugs following treatment, however, its not proven so there are no guarantees. Some of these include lavender, lemon, or tea tree oil. Rubbing alcohol may also kill any residual bed bugs  Above all, they hate nothing more than intense heat and cold.

Unfortunately, bed bugs don’t always die during the winter months. They are notoriously resilient and survive temps above zero, what a miracle. Depending on where you live, the area’s climate may not naturally kill them.

Absolutely. The high temperatures produced with heat treatment should kill all the bed bugs. Heat treatment does not involve toxic chemicals or insecticides. After treatment, you won’t need to be concerned with residual insecticides on your bed.

Even so, our professionals highly recommend sealing your mattress with an encasement after heat treatment. No matter what, always check with Green Valley Wildlife Solutions before sleeping on the same mattress.
